Appetizer

  • Dark Skies – Horror Lasagna Appetizer

Dark skies is an alien abduction movie. Pretty creepy, makes you a little nervous to go to bed. Thought it was done well with the tension build up just right. A pretty good Blumhouse film.

  • Freddy’s Nightmares

This is pretty simple – such a bad show. So bland and low budget. Twenty years after Star Trek, and the sets look more fake. The only reason it lasted 2 seasons was the popularity of Robert Englund as Freddy.

  • Death of a Unicorn

Fun movie, dark humor, great cast. I like when they de-Disneyize mythological creatures. Produced by Ari Aster. I’ll watch it again.

  • Possession of Hannah Grace – Appetizer

this movie reminded me A LOT of our Season 3 episode of The Autopsy of Jane Doe. This one is made to be more of a popcorn thriller and the story is a bit less.

  • A Classic Horror Story – Appetizer

An Italian folk horror. A bit like wicker man, a bit like Midsommar. Didn’t think the dub was very good.

  • Big Man Japan – Appetizer Movie Review

A Japanese horror movie about a giant superhero kaiju superhero. Of course, he’s fighting giant monsters – silly monsters, but giant. it has some funny moments. If you like Japanese culture, this one will fit the bill nicely.

  • Monkey Appetizer Review

I’ve read the short story before and enjoyed it. Then Stephen King himself said this was a great movie. I went to see it. I think it started off as a serious horror movie, but somewhere along the line, Osgood took a little something something while watching a Tim Burton movie – and went so…

  • Heart Eyes Appetizer Review

This is a fun movie. It’s a slasher, which aren’t my favorites, but it’s fun. They do it tongue in cheek. Since it was focused on Valentine’s Day, it takes the best rom-com tropes and mashes them with the best slasher horror tropes and come up with something that works. I’d watch it again and…

  • Presence

This is billed as a haunted house movie. I don’t want to give anything away, but this is one of my favorite movies of the last several years. The POV is interesting and follows a family around a house. Many long shots. It’s not a regular spooky story, but is a great build up.

  • I, Frankenstein – Horror Lasagna Appetizer review

This is not the typical horror movie we watch at Horror Lasagna. But because its a Frankenstein movie and is told as a sequel to the book, it falls under horror. It’s not scary or horrific – it’s more of a blockbuster action flick. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, just doesn’t make it rank high…

  • The Crazies (1973) and The Crazies (2010)

The Crazies (Codename: Trixie) was a George Romero film he put out between Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead. While not quite zombies, the virus unleashed on the population make them act a bit like zombies. For a Romero fan, you need to watch it. But I don’t think it’s one…

  • Splinter

A splintery life form re-animates creatures it infects. A group of car jacked hostages  along with their car jackers get trapped in a gas station. You can guess what happens. Well done. Get it on Amazon
