Season 06 Intro
Stephen: [00:00:00] Okay. So Reese, we’ve made it all the way to season six. Yay. For us. Season five was long. We had 15 episodes. Normally we have 10, so it’s a little longer. What are we doing for season six? What’s our great theme this time?
Rhys: Our theme for season six as I looked through all of the various notes I had of the past five seasons, I noted that every single one of the movies had one thing in common. They were all directed or written by men,
Stephen: Yes.
Rhys: We have built a season entirely of female directors.
Stephen: Which before anyone starts jumping on some band vigon saying, oh, you guys are jumping on this woke DEI thing. No. It’s, we’re trying to get themes. We’re trying to get good and interesting themes that people normally don’t do, and there are women horror directors, but there’s a lot less of them. So it’s cool to put ’em all together in one and see what we’ve got.
So I’m pretty excited to [00:01:00] see what comes up because it’s different. And I always like something different.
Rhys: Yeah. And I think one of the things we’re gonna come across Steve’s right? There’s certainly far fewer of them out there. And you’ll find that, they come up against very different obstacles than male directors. And on occasions we’ll bring that up. But it’s an interesting study sociologically about the difference between male and female directors.
And, we’re gonna be hard pressed to find any kind of humor in this season two, because the women seem to take things a lot more seriously.
Stephen: That, that’s gonna be interesting to see. And I like that. I would hate to say that there are people that would avoid a horror movie because it’s got a female director. I don’t think that’s, I would hope that the horror community doesn’t do that. And I would hope that most of them don’t even really pay attention to the director.
They just wanna see a good horror.
Rhys: I was gonna say that’s how we ended up this way. We [00:02:00] just went through and picked movies we liked and oh my gosh, these have all been by guys. Surely there’s some by women and Yeah, all of the ones on this list, I don’t think maybe two did. I know were actually directed by women before I watched them, so
Stephen: Yep. So welcome to season six which, season six by itself is pretty amazing for us. Actually, you can almost think of it as season like six and a half, since we had five extras in season five.
Rhys: That’s right.
Stephen: so here we go, season six, 10 more great episodes coming up. First episode is going to be magically done for us really quick.
